Well it looks like a split decision! I just may take a chance and not pre wash this time. I really don't care to spend all my time ironing washed fabrics. Thank you all for your input.

I also don't prewash. Only for embroidery, and even then I find it a big hassle, can't see doing it for quilting

I always wash a finished quilt before giving it away. No surprises for user. Gets rid of hand oils/dust/hair etc. Is a final check to make sure it all stays together. Nice and fresh smelling.

I too have limited time for quilting and I do not wish to spend it doing more laundry. Have never had an issue yet. I do check reds and have never found one that runs yet.
