My friend is making a quilt of flowers made from yo yo's on small 4-5 inch squares of background fabric with the yo yo as the flower and 2 leaves. It is very cute and quite colorful and can be quilted as you go so is very portable.

Another thread today is a link to a bartering site.... trade this for that.... Maybe you should look at it. Seems people put up something they want to get rid of and people make offers until one of them is something the other person wants.

I'd go with a yo yo quilt. Maybe a lap sized one. Put all that work to even more work and once done give it to that dear granddaughter. After all at 16 she is probably starting to think about college or other plans and could use a reminder of the wonderful grandmother she has once on her own. It also has extra special meaning since all those yoyos were made by the two of you in a sense. After all you both were there and she was the main inspiration behind them. Thats my thought of course Im feeling a little sappy today.LOL

I made my daughter and DIL vests with Yo yo's and they turned out great. Used Satin for the back and added charmes and bows on the front and they loved them. Not hard to do just. use your favorite pattern as template.

If you used strips of fusible hem webbing could you join them together in rows then press onto a back piece os fabric using your machine then and a decorative stitch ie flower join them together. Hope you understand this. It would make a very quick quilt or bed runner or lap top or skirt or one of those zshawlie things that go around your neck. Think it is moda pattern great for college student .
