I have a Black and Decker "Classic" that I love! It runs under $30.00 so it's easy to replace if need be. I got mine at Wal-Mart but K-mart also carries them. I saw recently that they now have them with a Teflon sole plate! I think I need to get one of them too. :D

I recently bought a Sunbeam for about $30. So far am very happy
w/it, turns off automatically. Still have my Rowenta that I have had for years and it works also. I especially like the auto turnoff as I have to
leave so often.

don't remember what my big iron is but it's good cheap one. I bought one of those tiny clover ones, the head is shaped just like an iron . I thought it would be good for getting in those tight small seams but just doesn't get hot enough, you have to stay on the seam too long and that adds up to too much time to suit me.

I have the Hobbico that you are talking about. It gets much hotter than the little clover mini. I do a lot of starched applique and really like for that. Do watch your fingers if you get too close, I sometimes use an orange stick to help hold things in place.

I've had Black & Decker, Sunbeam, and others. I finally and recently bought a Rowenta because I needed great steam! While it is considerably heavier than others on the market and more expensive than the $10 KMart sale iron, it came with a great guarantee and kicks butt on everything from silk to velvet to my husband's shirts. It even keeps wrinkles from my summer linens! I don't know what I did without it, so I guess the old adage stands - you get what you pay for! :)

I have a Rowenta iron and it works great for me. It has an automatic shutoff which is great except when you have left it for awhile to sew and come back to press and need to wait for it to heat up again. It has two buttons to help in pressing - one gives a spray and the other is a puff of steam.

I bought a Rowenta & it leaked from the beginning. I paid $100 or more & when I call the company they woulded do a darn thing. I am no impressed with Rowenta at all. Bought one from HSN in the $30 to 40 range & it works great. I do have a Rowenta travel iron & never put water in it & like the size for seams etc.

I have had a Panasonic in the past and just bought another one. I like it. It is somewhat heavy but the weight helps take wrinkles out.
You may not find it in stores. I couldn't and so I bought it online from the company Panasonic.
