What do you do with your scraps?

I cut mine in standard sizes and put them in plastic shoe boxes. But I really and most truly believe that my house is visited each night by fairies who sprinkle my scraps with pockets filled of fairy magic that make my scraps multiply. About 4 years ago I gathered two grocery bags, those big brown paper bags, filled with scraps. My goal was to use them all that summer vacation away from school. Well... I made 20+ scrappy quilts since then and still have just as many scraps as when I started. I consider it a blessing because now I can make more quilts to give away. One of these nights I will catch those fairies and ask them to clean up after their doings. They are such messy little things.

I think I am a fabric hoarder. (no, I know that I am) I keep all my scraps. Well, I ended up with 2 boxes of them so I cut what I could into 5" charms, then cut the smaller pieces into hex's and kept the strips that were at least an inch. Everything else has gone into a bag to make cat beds. The strips will be sewn together to make more fabric for a scrap quilt. With prices for fabric I hate to throw anything that can be usable somehow away. Am I the only one who does this?

I'm afraid I have more scraps than ideas and time to make scrap quilts, but I read with interest those who use the scraps to make dog beds, great idea. My daughter has a friend who is a Vet and maybe I'll talk to her to see if they could use beds like that in their clinic.

I have many uses for scraps. My favorite type of quilting is appliqué . I love using a fabric cutter using various scraps to create a new quilt. There are many scrap quilting books. Right now my scrap pile needs replenishing !

I save all mine and use them in fabric landscapes for wall hangings and applique work I love to do. Someday I hope to make a scrap quilt. I am just starting a table runner for DD from scraps I used making her a quilt she uses as a wall quilt several years ago.

I keep mine. I just made a doll house quilt from the scraps from a table runner. I try not to keep anything under 2.5", but I've made some quilts from 2" strips, and I've cut some 1.5" squares, which I'd be willing to part with. Mostly I don't cut them unless the scraps are down near the size of a 2.5" square I started a strip quilt. Haven't gotten far with it, but I haven't felt well lately either. Time to get back into some quilting.
