Oh, yes, I agree with this. It would look so pretty with alternating blocks.

the heart since it's for your granddaughter. but I also like the idea of using both in alternating blocks. it is a beautiful quilt.

I vote for either the circle, or both - but not just hearts.

That was the first thought that came to my mind when I saw them but then I thought you could have the hearts facing outward and alternate them with the circles. No matter what you pick. It will be lovely.

If you use multiple hearts there is no reason why they couldn't be turned various directions. For example, you could start in the center and point them to each of the four corners. The quilt would look fine from each direction. I'm not sure that's what I'd do, but it's a possibility. I like both designs and would have trouble choosing.
