Yes, we have all learned from our mistakes. I am still quilting on my machine for over the past 15 years. I always check things twice before cutting or sewing and that has saved me from making so many mistakes and having to go hunt down my Jack the Ripper who likes to play hide and go seek.

Tell me more about number 4 -- is this "button" part of your machine? or an attachment?
My solution to keeping that foot pedal where it belongs is a piece of rubber mat like they sell for china shelves liner.
AND before you buy lining fabric (at today's prices
), see if there is an unneeded shirt around the house or in the rag bag!

It must be the day for posts about new machines! Don't you love the bright lights with the new machines? And I didn't even mention the needle threader in my post, but I had a time remembering how she said to use it and I had the book with me, too. Now I have it figured out, and you are right. I used to practice contortionism to thread the needles, had to have the light just right, etc. Your post is funny. Thanks for sharing.

Be sure to embroider a test piece before attempting to embroidery on your finished project. Things don't always work out the first time. Since I'm the same age I can identify with some of your comments. Happy sewing. I'd like to see your finished project.

I bought a large rubber mat and still the foot travels, but not as much. Its amazing what these machines do now compared to the old days. When I took a class a few years back, they provided machines that threaded and also cut the thread each time. Just amazing.

Great lessons learned. When I got my first rotary, it was only 5 minutes later I was using a whole pack of bandages to stop the bleeding but one of my favorite tools. I actually have 5 rotary cutters 2-45mm, 2-60mms and a 28mm for seam ripping.
