Hi everyone! I need your advice in making tote bags. My pattern says to use prequilted fabric or couldn't I just use a cotton fabric plus a webbing and of course a liner that would match the existing fabric?

I use cotton - the kind I use for quilting then I use fusible webbing OR batting. Also you COULD buy regular cotton, cut a larger piece than is called for and then quilt it and cut it to size...

I would quilt the cotton. It makes for a stronger bag.

You can prequilt your own fabric, then cut it to size, then just follow the directions using a prequilted fabric - the one you created!

Thats what I would do too, just make your own quilted fabric. Would be lots cheaper too!

I just put batting inside the two fabrics. I don't quilt it, and the tote bags turn out fine. Quilting might be prettier though....

I use upholstery fabric, I like the way it looks done up. Here is one I designed.
