I have my grandmother's old ironing board since it is stable unlike many new ones. If I want one next to my machine, I have my child's ironing board that I and my daughter used when we were little. I't now an antique (like me) Fun!

Quilt shops have "quilt boards" that fit right on top of your ironing board. They are covered and a perfect size for ironing a completed quilt top. It is easy to just lift them off the ironing board and store when you are finished with it.

However, when that is covered with stuff, I use the June Tailor pressing/cutting thing for pressing small pieces.

I took an old metal typing table, bought some 3/8" plywood, had it cut to size I needed. I put a pressing pad, which I bought from Keepsake Quilting over it with staples. I bought heavy duty velcro and I velcroed it to the top of my typing table, which I can roll around and press on while I am seated. Also have a regular ironing board, which I use backwards. By that I mean, I put the pointed end to my right (I am right handed) and use the wide end to press on. Works for me!
