I have a Viking 6460, my first really good machine, currently not working, but I love it!!!! The machine I sew on currently is a Viking Emerald 203 Quilting edition. I really like this machine, although I haven't completely mastered it yet. I would still like to acquire a longarm, but I have no space for one, and a treadle, which are few & far between in my neck of the woods!!!!

I have a Babylock Ellegante. I love it. I had always wanted a sewing/embroidery machine with all the bells and whistles. My husband died at the age of 54, 3 months after being diagnosed with cancer in 2007. A few months later I bought the machine for %5200 with some of the life insurance money. Having something to absorb myself into really helped me through my grief. My interest in quilting was re-ignited and learning the embroidery has given me some joy through a difficult time.

If you want help with your 6460, there is an on-line group that deals with only vintage vikings.

Who can actually afford to buy the ones that are over $3000.00?
I have a Bernina 1530, bought before I got into quilting and bought for making clothes. It does a great job on the quilting also. Then I have a Brothers, SQ9000, I take this to classes. It is a whole lot lighter than my Bernina.

I have what I like.

Yes, if I want one I will go get it. Children might think I am stupid be it is for me. Now a long arm is way out of reach right now..

I have a Bernina 1130 that I love and hope it lasts forever. I also have a Babylock Imagine serger and a Singer Featherweight that I take to retreats and classes. My Fun Quilter midarm is a good beginner machine, but I would love to have an Avante or an Innova with all the bells and whistles sometime in the future.

I bought my first Bernina 930 25 years ago for $1,000
My husband gave me myBernina 440 for x-mas 5 years ago.
I inherited my mom's Bernina 430.
I just ordered a Bernina 820.
I am happy. I believe in getting what you will use, and one that will allow you to develop your skills. I will never sell my 930, and hope to gift the two 400's someday to my daughter's when they have sewn enough to appreciate the machine. I have paid for my 930 many times over.

I bought a Bernina 440 QE with the Embroidery module 2years ago. Last week I bought the 820 QE. Both are the BEST investments ever made....I can embroidery on the 440 while quilting on the 820. I am one happy lady..
