What kind of sewing machine do you have?

I have a 1979 Sears Kenmore, a Husqvarna/Viking Scandinavia 300 embroidery machine/a Sears serger, a HV Quilter's Dream with Inspira 10' quilting frame, and an old Free Westinghouse. An embroidery machine that has larger hoops would be nice, but for now, I'm satisfied.

Who can actually afford to buy the ones that are over $3000.00?

Singer 206 (1950's)
Singer 221 (1948) - featherweight
singer 221 (1951) - featherweight
Singer ? treadle that I will be getting ready to use soon
Kenmore 158 (1960?)
Kenmore 148 (1950's)
a serger that I use for making clothing
and my DH is considering getting me a longarm machine, though I am not sure I want one. It will be a long term discussion before we invest in that.
Why so many? The featherweights trade off going with me to classes I teach. I have two daughters who want machines. I have found that it is easier on the pocketbook to find an old machine and clean and service it than to buy new ones that have to go to a serviceman/computer guru to be fixed when they inexitably break down. (I worked on computers for several years before I was able to be home with my family. I know.) Aside from the Viking and serger (both metal with a few plastic parts), all are metal, and very easy to take care of. I have even gotten my DH interested in the process. And if we can do something together, so much the better. I enjoy working with him on the machines.
