I posted the other day that I broke my Accuquilt because I tried cranking too much material through it. My husband called Accuquilt yesterday after taking the machine apart. One of the gears was totally destroyed and the rollers aren't working that well. He called them to see about replacement parts. Well, they don't sell replacement parts but if we shipped the unit to them (at our cost), they could probably fix it at no charge and then we would have to pay the return shipping as well. We didn't really want to ship it since shipping would be quite costly and they weren't guaranteeing no repair charges. She suggested we take it back to Joann's and see if they would do anything. So I took it back this morning, explained to them the machine broke and I told them it was because I tried feeding through too much material. They never batted an eye, went back and got me a new machine. Never even asked to see my receipt, what my name was, or even looked at the broken machine. And it wasn't even any of the staff that I usually see there. The Joann's staff was fantastic. I just wanted to share a positive story.

So good to hear of such a positive experience. :)This type service is what makes us keep going back to that particular store.

Really?! You were very fortunate - my Joann's will only give a 50% value without a receipt.

Wow, that's great! Glad you got the new machine. Two clerks at "my" JoAnn yesterday wouldn't even look for/up the RinsAway I was looking for, just pointed to the isle and said if it isn't there, we're out. They weren't busy, either.

Good for you! My Joann's only gives you 50% without a reciept also. Maybe you were lucky and had some newer people wait on you!

Oh I had my receipt, they just never asked to see it. I told them we had spoken with Accuquilt and their rep told us to talk to Joanns. It's my understanding from the Accuquilters Group that the handle breaking is a common problem, even when you don't feed too much material through it. So maybe they're used to people bringing the Go back in. My husband and I are going to see how much I use it and maybe eventually upgrade to the Studio. But I'm very thrilled to have a cutter to use again. I just need to replace the square die I was using because that was damaged and had to be disposed of.
