LOL, oh my, true confessions time. Well, I sew over pins much less often than I used to, and I do slow down when I'm doing it. I don't change my needle often enough, I'm sure. Even tho I not so long ago sewed my finger, I still am sticking them in harms way when I need to tuck a seam under the presser foot. I do have the proper tool and am trying hard to learn to use it. In spite of my best intentions to stay organized, I make a huge mess when I quilt, and the rest of the house gets pretty much neglected till I'm done with the project. It's just me and my dog right now, so I get away with it.

Pins in mouth-check
Use rotary blade until dead-check
Cut toward me-check
Talk with pins in mouth-check
Forget to change needle until it either brakes or makes weird noise-check
Have more than one project started at a time-check
Buy more fabric than I need for 'just in case'-check
Have more machine than I will ever use but would not trade it for the world-check
Spend too much time on the quilt board-check and double check
Spend more time plotting quilts than actually sewing-1/2 check

Bad habits-not really-just enjoying life and its adventures!!

Thee and me! And I am not likely to start taking every pin out before I get to it, so there, quilt police! froggyintexas

I also have bad habit of sewing over pins, not changing needle in sewing and embroidery machine until I run into problems BUT my biggest BAD habit I will Never do again, while FMQ on emb/sewing machine I ended up breaking 3 needles and after much frustration I took bobbin casing apart and was totally horrified to find so much lint that it looked like I had felt pads between my feedogs and under casing. You see I had made 13 embroidered blankets ( fleece) for the children in the family for christmas presents last year and bad me I never cleaned my machine, how it sewed anything I have no ideal. But it is a real work horse of a machine.I not only broke 3 needles but also managed to get burs on my throat plate which caused bobbin thread to fray so at 4 a.m. when hubby got home from work he fixed the burs and machine FMQs like a dream.

I never sew over pins because one time I did--about 45 years ago. The pin broke and the point richocheted off my glasses. Had I not been wearing glasses, I might be blind in 1 eye! So, I no longer sew over pins.
