Baby, lap, small twin or regular twin. Have made a few queen size, never a king. Sometimes the fabric tells me what to do with it, sometimes the amount of fabric tells me the same thing.

I make baby quilts or throw size. If I want a bed quilt I just make one big enough to cover the top of the bed. I have a white duvet cover and pillowcases to go underneath. The few full size bed quilts I have made are so heavy to lie under and I tend to toss about quite a lot so find it very uncomfortable.

For a bed quilt I like it to be the size of the mattress and about 15 inches(anywhere from 12-20) on either side of the quilt and on one end to cover the edge of the mattress.
I always seem to want to make quilts a slightly different size from the pattern and I am always changing something about them, it's why I started using EQ.

The majority of my quilts are queen sized but I tend to just make them what ever size fits the need. If I start with a commercial pattern I tend to change it to fit what I want it to be.

I find if the quilt pattern doesn't make the size I need I add a couple borders to make it larger or another row of the blocks if I can. I try to use up all the scraps made while putting the quilt together. There are so many types of borders that really add to the quilt. I doubt if I have enough years to try them all.

I've made wall hangings to king size and everything in between. Most of mine are large throws for curling up under to watch tv or read a book - or snooze.

When I left NJ I got rid of all large beds and now have just twin beds in this home. I made this decision when I realized how hard it is to lift the heavy mattresses to make the beds and to clean under the beds on the larger beds. I have not been sorry. I make twin size quilts and some a bit larger for watching tv, baby quilts for friends and larger for family members. Donation quilts tend to be twin to regular size...much easier to handle for me.

I've completed mostly miniature wall hangings (some about 12x12), but also some queen-sized bed quilts. As I have been working, I have really liked the sense of accomplishment that the wall hangings provide. When I'm fully retired, I'll start focusing on finishing some complete or nearly completed tops that are larger.

All sizes...depending on who the quilt is for. I’m sure I will finish more queen and king size when I get my own LA machine. Until then, I have to drive almost an hour to rent one.

Because I get bored easily and have a gazillion patterns on my "some day I want to make this" list, I stick with baby and lap quilts. I always make a baby quilt for pregnant co-workers and if they have an older child I'll make an I Spy snuggle quilt too. Lap-size quilts are made for humane society raffles.
