I use an adjustable office chair with rollers and good back support, but no arms.

same here. I got mine it a woodworking shop. hard plastic, but a shaped seat for my bum, and the back is small enough to be out of the way, but supportive for those 'stretch' moments.

I use, at the moment, a padded back support office chair with arms. However, I am considering getting a basic, sturdy office chair as I have very limited space in my sewing area now that we moved to an apt. When the budget allows I will get another sturdy office chair, but it has to be large enough to support my behind comfortably.

Salon/ dr stool, name of "Perla" Better built than others I checked into. Handles higher weights also, sits under the table when not in use.

I love my chair. It does have arms which I thought might get in the way..........NOT. Has a head rest, which I thought I would never use...............DO. It has a mesh seat for comfort, is wide enough, has rubber wheels for the laminate floor, adjustable height, tilt AND lumbar support for my poor aching back. Can't say enough good things about it. My husband would always come in and sit in it when I was cutting, so bought him one. He forgoes his easy chair and the couch and uses it to read. Our SIL sat at our computer to figure out a problem we were having, and said, "Where did you get this chair!?" He bought one. No affiliation, just a very satisfied customer.

I use a well made, purchased secondhand, office chair with little arms, that can be lowered enough for me to sew at my antique teachers desk and have my back straighter, and reduce back and neck fatigue. A chiropractor would be agast, but it works great for me. I tried tipping the machine to get the same effect, but this works much better. No neck pain.

i use an office chair with arms. of course i don't sit all the way back because there is a project there, and a few over the back too.

I have rolling chairs with no arms. I found them at WalMart on sale for around $38.00. Regular price was $139.99.

I have a rolling office chair from Office Depot. I'm 5'7" & can sit with feet flat on the floor & at the perfect height for sewing. Mesh back & does have arms but they swing up & out of the way. I had another office chair but it didn't raise high enough for sewing. This 1 will go a little higher than I need. No more aching shoulders.
