I think I would have told her the quilt was promised, but offered to make her another one just like it. When you agreed on a price, I'd get at least half in advance as a deposit.

I also think you did exactly the right thing. But if she really loved that quilt, I might have offered to make her another one and stated a specific price for it, especially since you say the same fabrics were readily available.

I doubt I'll ever make another like this. It all kinda grew out of the fact that I didn't like the fabric I chose and wasn't crazy about making kaleidoscope blocks. I was just adding bits and pieces to it any which way until it got big enough to be useful. In the end it turned out pretty cool, but I'd never do another.

You handled it just right, and that is a lovely quilt.

You should rest assured that you did the right thing - even above and beyond. The qult is beautiful. I can see why she would want it, but it wasn't hers to have.
Relax, knowing you're a responsible (to the shool) and generous person (to her).

It's beautiful, you did the right thing, and besides, if she didn't even thank you, than your quilt wouldn't have gotten the good home it deserved. I bet whoever wins that quilt in the raffle will be absolutely THRILLED!
