If all the colors blend it would really work well to bring in some lights and darks so your browns pop.

I agree with others who say you need a contrasting color(s), otherwise, it will all look the same.

You can do the D9P using several different colors. That is what I would do. I love browns. People are leaning more toward the earthtones these days. Go with it. You will find that it is going to be a beautiful quilt!

Nightquilter: I'm currently collecting old plaid flannel shirts for a quilt. There are plenty of browns as well as a few blues and greens in the mix. Right now I'm thinking of using a solid grey or possibly cream/tan flannel as the background fabric and pieces from the shirts in a single irish chain type pattern. Would something like that or Willferg's quilt work for your colors?

Willferg: I love your quilt. I prefer simpler patterns and yours is pretty close to what I was thinking of.

Judy at patchworktimes.com has a brown quilt in her free patterns that looks pretty simple.

I made a D9P brown quilt for my granddaughters mom for her wedding. It turned out fantastic. I was going to post it but I can't find the picture. I used a tone on tone , a bright red for the centre, a cream with a vine and brown and red heart shaped leaves, a brown with flowers that were pink, red and white. I think it was one of the prettiest quilts I have ever made. My LA found a pattern of hearts and flowers and it was fabulous. Some times simple is more. I am sure you can make a gorgeous quilt from the brown. A friend of mine just bought a bunch of brow to make a bears claw. You could also do the maple leaf patterns in browns,

Double slice layer cake is an easy pattern. Missouri Star Quilt Co. has a great video tutorial. I made mine from yardage instead of a layer cake. You can always add more browns or creams to have more variety
