I like trennag's bluesy quilt! Another pattern that uses just squares is flying squares.

I don't think you have to do a lot of cutting to make a neat quilt. I just noticed that one of my mom's quilts has a giant star block (Kansas star, maybe?) as the center medallion -- the square pieces are 5"-6" so the whole thing is easily 2 feet square.

Here is my "just lay 'em out and sew 'em together" quilt:

D9P would be my choice, love the options for layout.

This is a pattern I found that I am using up some of my charm squares on...kind of like a snowball block, but with only 2 opposite corners with triangles instead of 4, and then sashing in-between.

You all have given me so many ideas, thanks so much. I have never made a D9P so I think I will try it first with my Christmas charms. I always like to work on two quilt tops at one time, using the Bonnie Hunter leaders and enders idea. I like the Missouri Star idea of making HST's by sewing around the squares so I think I will do that too. Now this afternoon while I watch the snow falling, I think I will look at the site recommended above. It sure looks good.

Check out the Moda Bake Shop. They have lots of free patterns. There is one called the Honey Honey layer cake quilt but charm squares can be used on it. I will be trying this one out soon.

They make great Dresden plates-everything goes together color-wise.

Totally agree, here is a link for the pattern in case you haven't got it: http://quiltsatcs.blogspot.co.uk/200...-tutorial.html And a pic of one that I made using 5" squares that I didn't particularly like but it came out well IMO

I have an abundance of charm packs from Missouri Star Quilt Co's Daily Deals too! Love all the options that half square triangles give you -- so many ways to put them together!
I call this quilt Disappearing Origins. It's D9P from a couple of Moda Charm Packs called Origins.
I put darker square in the middle.
