Mine is "Quilter's Complete Guide" by Fons and Porter. It was my aunt's book, then my mother's and now IT IS MINE - ALL MINE!!!!!! and it is just great. It goes from starting quilting all the way through to where I will never get. Edie

I could never get very accurate piecing until I bought the book SquareinaSquare by Jodi Barrow. It does waste some fabric but it is as accurate as paper piecing.

I have to agree that the Fons and Porter book is just about the best one for beginner quilters - it's the one I use and recommend when I teach an 8-week beginner class. Having been a quilter for more than 20 years, I would find it much too difficult to choose my "favorite" - I love pretty well any book about quilting!!

My first lesson was how to draft a quilt block so I like:
5500 quilt blocks and Nancy Martins perpetual quilt block calendar- Carrie Hall is good to. Moosegirl

The one I use the most is The Quilters Ultimate Visual Guide from Rodale Press Inc. It has everything in it and lots of pictures. Wouldn't let it go for love or money!!!

The Quilting Answer Book by Barbara Weiland Talbert, a pocket-size that gives an answer to a multitude of questions.

I like any of Judy Martin's book, also like Marsh McClousky. Sometimes just looking through the books is better than going to a therapist :-)

Quilter's Complete Guild by Fons and Porter, published by Leisure Arts, gets my vote. Lots of good basic information in that one that I keep markers in for easy reference.

I love Carol Doaks 50 paper pieced stars. I would never part with this book.

The one I use the most is "5,500 Quilt Block Designs" by Maggie Malone.
