What is your Favorite Small notion Under $5.00
#21
The other day I found a mirror at Harbor Frieght that's about 1 1/4"x 2 1/2" (or somewhere around that). It's actually a magnet on an elastic band that fastens with velcro. It's a magnetic pin holder to wear on the wrist. Silver pen looking extension magnets are great for picking up pins, they also have magnetic bowls and rotary blades. Tuesday Morning usually has some sewing items at a greatly reduced price.

I just typed a reply which disappeared from my screen when I clicked, so hope this doesn't show up twice. My new favorite thing is a Frixion marking pen. You really can write all over your fabric, then touch it with an iron and the marks disappear. The cost around $3. Second favorite, which someone else has already mentioned, small magnetic bowl from Harbor Freight, $2.98, for holding pins, needles, small scissors etc. while working on a project.

Lots of good ideas here!
I don't know if you get their flyers, but, hancock fabric store has the notions wall all on sale for 50 percent off this month. I am not sure the dates but, they are on line to read the flyer. Many of the stores have great sales during this time of year and often there are coupons for better savings.
No one mentioned a pattern. There are some cute ones that you could get for that amount. But, I am not sure they would qualify as a notion.
I suppose until you go tot he store, you won't find the perfect thing. Sorry...
I think I would make a cute felt flower pin to pin to your shirt and use it for a needle holder. The fashion pin backs are easy to get ahold of in the crafts section of walmart.
Another notion that would be cute would be a quilt book book mark. It would be in the budget and it is handy.

What great ideas.. our guild always has an exchange too.. I have gotten a pencil box and put a few little things in there, like a seam ripper, thimble, package of needles, and perhaps a small spool of thread, then tied a ribbon with a double knot, closed it in the edge of the box and left some space, tied a bow..... we hang ours on a small tree.. looks cute hanging there...

I like to applique and have used the white marking pen by Clover. Recently, I purchased a new one in blue made by Pilot. It looks as though I have marked with a ball point pen, but alas, when touched with an iron it goes away as the Clover one does. BUT, using the top of the pen, the marks will disappear with friction or rubbing like an eraser (the iron is easier). This one, obviously, is used to mark on lighter fabrics. The Pilot also comes in black and other colors.
