This was a done deal a long time ago - I had asked her to send paint chips so I could select what I considered an appropriate shade - and that's when she gave me that rather snippy response - which she does a lot, anyway!

Sending someone else to pick up some 'blue thread' is like sending me to the hardware store to pick up some 'screws'
Give me one to show the associate and then there is a chance of bringing home something close!

I so agree with this statement. Have you ever gone to a fabric shop with the color you want in your head? Only to get there and doubt yourself? Well I have. I never go without a swatch!

Your girlfriend may have color blindness - I do! Recently, at a guild meeting, I picked up some strips and called them purple - I was politely corrected to navy blue. I always laugh about those mistakes - Seems that some of the shades used to make the color are not visible to me, so I see colors differently.

My daughter and I were discussing the color of something or other - I think she called it 'purple' - which to me is a dark, rich color - and what she was describing was I call 'lavender' - which to me is a pastel, light version of purple.

Sort of intriguing when someone mentions a color to me, the image that comes to my mind. When someone says red, orange, yellow, green, blue, or violet, brown or black - I think of the colors that are in the 'basic 8' Crayola crayon box.

I was so dumb in second grade - we had been taught that blue and red will make purple - and I did not realize that 'violet' and purple were the same thing - so I carefully colored whatever with red and blue crayons. DUH!
