Packing my sewing room to head to Florida tomorrow- leaving the snow for a while. Packed Christmas log cabin blocks in 2 sizes. Last finish was quilt of valour.

I put a quilt top on my longarm frame and plan to start sewing a few rows of a pantograph tonight. I hope to finish it tomorrow.

Figuring out how to quilt this with my limited skills. I did ditchwork already to stabilize it but it needs more. Suggestions?

I've been going through orphan blocks this week and making mug rugs, zipper bags, and tote bags with them. Yesterday, I made a tote bag and just need to add the magnetic closure thingy. I'll quilt and finish up two little zipper bags today. If I like the way they turn out, I'll probably make a couple more this week.

After church, quilting, quilting, quilting! I layered three quilts yesterday at my guild work day. They have large tables that eliminates the crawling about on the floor process for sandwiching. So, today is grab a project and quilt away. Then perhaps a binding and a movie tonight!.

Neat quilt!

For the quilting, You could use the applique templates as a pattern to trace around in the open black spaces and then quilt them in a contrasting thread. Then using a thread that blends in, you could echo around the quilted motifs and maybe add an easy fill such as loops to fill in the background. For the the appliques in the colored areas you could echo around them at quarter inch intervals or do a combination of echoing and then background fill. That would be fairly easy to do and would get you some practice in managing spaces and a start on doing some quilted motifs in your negative spaces.
