I lucked out and found a wide dresser at a garage sale. It is perfect for a cutting table as I don't have to bend over. It is wide enough for almost 2 of the middle size mats, it is deeper than one so a corner has a place for holding tools.

I have a cutting table in my sewing room. My husband built it for me, and we experimented with different heights in our kitchen to decide how high to make it. Works great!

This is what I use as well. The table is 2' X 4'. It has several height settings. It is sturdy and works great!

I found a bargain at the thrift store on a farmhouse table that the 36 x 60 mat from JoAnn's just fits. It makes a great cutting table. I want to get it set up on blocks to make it a little higher for my poor back but haven't got that done yet.

When I have lots of pieces to cut, I use the penninsula in my kitchen (open on 3 sides). If I am cutting BIG stuff, I put one of those white mats from Joann's on the dining room table. Downstairs I use part of the desk the sewing machines sit on (but it is a bit too low but any higher and I could not sew on it).

When we had our house built I wanted a place large enough to lay out fabric and cut. Part of my counter space has no back splash and looks into the family room and it's about 41 inches wide and 72 inches long. I can spread out the fabric and cut pieces. It's also the right height and does bother my 70+ year old back. If my fabric is a heavy piece, I can put a chair up to the end of the counter and lay the fabric on the chair. My sewing room is not large enough for sewing machines, fabric and cutting area.

I made a cutting table out of my old dog grooming table by putting a sheet of plywood on it and raising it up with the bed risers. Now it's the right size for my 69 year old back. My table is 40" square but you can use any size that fits in your room.

I place my mat and rulers, rotary on back breaking kitchen table it is too low for me,but that is the only option I have right at this moment.I hope to one day turn one of bedrooms into a large sewing room.
