www.longarmsupplies.net (connected with Linda's Electric Quilters) carries Hobbs batting in large rolls, small packages and by the case. A roll of Hobbs 80/20 (30 yards x 120" wide) is $137 plus shipping. A 96" wide x 30 yards is $110. Last time I ordered, shipping was around $25.

I buy the Fairfield cotton batting from JoAnn's with a coupon. Much more economical than warm and natural and works well for me.

I am very interested in this thread. I will check out all of the sites that have been suggested. I am hoping to purchase batting by the roll as inexpensively as possible. I would be using it for Project Linus Quilts. Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming.

I don't know which weight of Quilters Dream someone found too stretchy but I use their batting on the roll in our LA business. In cotton - Select weight for traditional look, deluxe for wall hangings or show quilts you want to hang straight. Dream Puff for clients who want hi-loft poly. Their 70/30 blend. And my 2 all time favorites Dream Orient & Dream Wool. I am going to order some of their packaged batting for baby quilts. They are the only company with flame retardant batting. I thought that might be good in donated throws for nursing homes or at-home invalids also.

Hobby Lobby will sell you as much as you want, even the entire roll, and let you use the 40% off coupon. From what I've heard, you can even order an entire roll, if they don't have one in stock, and use the coupon.

Our Walmart carries Warm & Natural for $6.97/yd. every day. I've never bought a whole roll, but I've bought at least 10 yards at a time. JoAnn's with the 50% coupon might be even cheaper, I guess..

i don't know what you mean by the roll, but my favorite batting by a million miles is the hobbs heirloom washable wool. it's warm (really warm , but cool int he summer) and is a dream to hand and machine quilt.

batting is expensive. everything lately seems to be so expensive. crop failures world wide and all the rest....welp. expensive.

i am using that white warm and natural right now and it is painfully thin. if i were to use it again i might actually be tempted to double it up.

am i helping? no, i don't think so.

i sure do like that wool. and someday ima win the lottery and try that silk. gorsh it feels lovely on the roll....
