I've used mine successfully for many years. Tried using with the Flynn frame, but gave that up and just quilt using the machine and my hands. It is perfect for quilting without the big frame setup.

The Voyager is a stretched machine. It is still pricey. I looked for 2 years, saving all the while by babysitting, and found an HQ16 on Craigslist for $2,500. I did not want something with just a small throat space. I had an extra bedroom so I knew I could fit one in there.

When I had the opportunity to tour Caryl Bryer Fallert's studio a few years ago, she had a machine that we would think of as a longarm built into a table. She still moved the quilt instead of the machine, and had 18" or so of room between the needle and the machine throat. It looked like a great setup!

I have the Babylock Quilters' Professional machine as well and paid $900 for it about 4-5 years ago. It is great for quilting.

I guess I am being daft regarding this issue. I have a Janome 6600 and I have no issues with quilting a king sized quilt; just make sure you have a long table to catch the weight and no worries! Why waste the money on more throat when it is not needed? Tks. G

the PQ1500 is a great machine. You can get it for $599 at allbrands.com I use it for my quilting all the time

I've been looking on the internet but the Brother PQ 1500 isn't available in The Netherlands At least I can't find it anywhere! You can't buy mid arm or long arm machine here either. Quilting isn't that popular here. Maybe I should move LOL

I have to agree with this suggestion! Baileys are plain and simple and come in three sizes, each for under $3000. You can use them on a table or counter as well as on a frame.
