I have wood floors in my sewing room. I use an office chair in my sewing room, the floor makes it easier to go from my sewing desk, to my quilting machine.

I have had both and I have to tell you if I have the choice, I will never have carpet again. Wood floors sweep up clean in minutes, rather than pulling out the vacuum cleaner two and even three times a day due to tidbits of scraps and threads.

Our whole house is like this also. You see more on wood but it is easier to keep clean, less dust and it stays looking better much longer then carpet. It was one of the things DH insited on with this house and no regrets. I must say the noise level is a bit higher since there is no carpet or padding to absorb it. Hang more quilts?

I'm going to be the odd ball on this ??. We had a screend end porch, put on the front of our house years back. Anyhow they used a block foundation, and poured cement. So I have a cement floor. Eventually, I'm going to put linoleum down

I love wood floors, and have them all through my house except for tile in the bathrooms and kitchen, and carpet in my sewing room. I sit in a chair on wheels when I sew, and I move around the room a lot on that chair. My sewing area in our FL house had wood floors, and they were just really marred up by the wheels on my chair. In the MI house I keep a waste basket right by my knee while sewing and use is constantly. I also keep my Dyson in a closet in the sewing room and almost always run it over the carpet when I am done sewing. Keeps the room nice and neat and makes me happy!

I have sheet laminate in mine - easy to clean PLUS I hear the needles when they fall.

I have carpet because my sewing room is also the family room. I don't like cold floors so not sure if I will ever have hard wood floors. I grew up in a house with hard wood floors that had to be paste waxed and buffed....never again will I do that!

I have carpet but would rather have a hard surface. I only have carpet because that was what was there when we bought the house and with all the other stuff to do, replacing that flooring has been low on the priority list. I'll have to think about vinyl flooring. That would be quick and easy to do. Of course, re-doing the flooring would mean taking everything out of the sewing room which is a scary proposition to me. lol I agree with Mitch's Mom, it must have been a man that came up with carpet.

I have original hardwood in my sewing room with a large area rug under my cutting/ironing table. It works for me. On the rare occasions that I a actually clean my sewing room, I find it easier to get all the dust bunnies.
