Not this year sadly. My mother passed away 7 years ago and my mother-in-law last year. To those who still have their mothers treasure them dearly.

No, as it kind of snuck up on me. But I am ordering my Aunt Connie a sewing book that she has wanted for a long long time. I think it is - oh shoot- I can't remember the name of it. Better Homes and gardens blah blah blah. My copy is in my office/quilting room in town. My mom passed away in 2007 and my aunt connie has gracefully stepped in to fill some of the void. I love her so much!

You really should ask her about it. My mother wouldn't use the quilts or afghans that my grandmother (her mother) made for her/us. She put them in the cedar chest. Said grandma went to a lot of work to make them and they weren't to be messed up by us kids. They were to be saved for good and treasured. So she wouldn't make us any more. wouldn't make anything actually. She made stuff for my aunt and her kids all the time because they destroyed their stuff. Gma said they used it and used it up so she would make more. We still had our stuff and didn't need any more. I always felt left out.

Nope. I got an embroidery machine from DH. I'm making Mom an embroidered handkerchief with crochet edging. She used to crochet edgings on all kinds of things, but arthritis won't let her work with the fine thread anymore. We lost Dad (96) last month, so now Mom (94) is alone. Gifts are for the heart from the heart, not for necessity.

I might try to finish up the table runner I started for Christmas for my mom and didn't finish.
