Yes, the foot pedal can have issues. We replaced the foot pedal on one machine, not the same Janome but the same type of foot pedal.

I've had my l660 for almost 3 years now. I absolutely love it! While I've had a few problems with it, it has, unfortunately, always been "operator error". I don't find the manual to be very helpful but there is a yahoo group for 6600 owners. I have found it to be a wonderful source of help and info. There is also an extensive database so you can research a topic if you like. The 6600 was TOL when I bought it. I usually go cheaper when I buy but not this time. I have not regretted my purchase once and I sew almost every single day. So my vote is YES YES YES!

I have a Janome 6500, which was out just before the 6500. I love it and the extra space it has also. I love free motion quilting with it. I would definately buy a 6600, especially because it sounds like you will have a very supportive dealer, which is so important. Good luck !!

I love mine too..it makes quilting so easy....the accufeed foot, is wonderful. I also love the speed control, since I hate slow machines. And I love the stop/start button. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. And do go to the classes that come with it. You learn alot of things, that aren't on their website.

I have quilted several on my 6600...had it for 4 yrs. this is my 4th janome and have loved them all. there is a FM bobbin case available for the 6600, have one and would reccomend it. Also find it helps to set stitch length at 0 when doing FM. Hope this helps.

I've had a Janome 6500 for several years and loved it until I got bit by the vintage machine bug LOL. My 1948 201 was $50.00 and sews a much better stitch than the Janome ever could. I realized that I never used all the bell and whistles on the newer machine which cost me a bundle. I picked up a Japanese knock off of the Singer 15 at a garage sale for $5.00 which does FMQ with the turning of a knob. Before you spend a ton of money, monitor the vintage machine forum on this site. It wasn't available when I got mine but boy I wish it had been. You're going to get a lot of advice and good luck with whatever you decision. I just wanted to throw in my opinion and a "thinking outside the box" consideration.

I have had my machine for about 4 years and cannot believe the difference it has made in my quilting experience! Stitch in the ditch is a dream with the accufeed, free motion quilting is easier because of the larger than standard harp (although the 7700 is larger) I have no tension problems with this machine. I love the thread cutter, separate motor for bobbin winding, needle up-down, faster than average speed with speed control for those times when I want to slow down, pressure control for the pressure foot, great accessory prices and lots of great stitches. The knee lift is a gem for applique turns and string piecing. Of course I would love the Horizon, but really can not imagine giving up a machine that works as well as my 6600P :o)
