I never thought of naming mine before, but if I did it might be the "Forty Dollar Prize". My Mom went in with me on it. She paid for it and I got to use it. I would sometimes give her ten dollars toward the cost. I had given her about $40.00 when she was nearing the end of her life. I ended up with this wonderful Singer for just 40 bucks.

I call my Janome 1600P, "The Beast", because it can sew through anything and it goes so fast. Don't have names for my other 6 machines. I only use 3 of them as a rule.

Quiltingbee, I used you as an example for DH the other day when he commented about my new hobby "collecting sewing machines" I said there's a lady on the QB who has 7 and they all have names. His eyes popped for a split second. lol

My Elna is named Elly - my first Featherweight is named Rocky, since he's still going strong after all these years (don't know why he seemed male, but he did). My Centennial edition Featherweight seemed more like a lady, and her name is Lily. My Janome is just Janome (we've never really bonded). And my motorcycle is "The Savage" since it's a Suzuki Savage model.

Lassie, for my ancient Singer industrial that was probably made sometime in the 30's. I was told that the model number indicates it was made in Scotland. Hence Lassie. (It's definitely not a dog!)

Incidentally, it's my second machine of the (nearly) same type. The original one, I bought because the salesman told me I would NOT wear it out within my lifetime. And he was right. I've had it since 1986, and it has been in for repairs only once. Now that's what I call reliability! This one was made in the US. It doesn't have a name though. Not because I don't care about it, but because, well, it's more of an "it goes without saying". Or, something like, it's so close to me that it doesn't NEED a name. If I did give it a name, it would be something along the lines of "my right arm". You get the idea.

I call my Pfaff the Ferrari of sewing machines. My dealer said it's not exactly a Ferrari and I told her that for me, it felt like it, especially compared to the entry level Singer I replaced!
