2014 Birthday Swap 2.5 sign up now !!!!

I've been working on Buckeye Beauty quilt blocks all weekend. Once I had the main blocks done I laid them all out on a bed and saw that I had barely HALF as many as I will need! So... back to the piles of blues and browns to cut more for more blocks. Oh well, just means I get to enjoy working on it a while longer. Below is what I have so far... and then a picture of one star block. I used 2" squares to make the 4-patches, but it could easily be done with 2.5"s.

Your quilt will be beautiful when it is done.

Barb, I'm am so guilty of always being late. Just stupid procrastination I guess. I like your Tuesday tips idea. For me as long as the weather is nice outside, that's where I'ld rather be. So I'm guilty of enjoying life I guess. But no fear, Aug is already to be mailed. hehe.

Tuesday Tips.......
I found out this year that you can re-grow celery. Just leave about 2 inches on the bottom of your celery stalk. Put it in small amount of water for 3 days. Then plant it in the garden or a pot, cover the entire (old part) of the celery with dirt. That's it. It will grow right up the center.
You can do the same with lettuce.
I have done both celery and lettuce. It takes awhile for the celery but the lettuce is pretty quick. I just leave the lettuce in the pot and cut the leaves as I need them.
Give it a try...let me know what you think.

Cutting for a Swap Tip (from one of my mentors):
Avoid sending duplicates or ruining the count by color coding the fabric before cutting:
white, grey, & black
red, orange, pink, & purple
blue, aqua, & green
yellow, cream, tan, & brown
Cut color coded stacks to the desired measurements to achieve the swap count (example: a 10"x10" cut makes 16 2.5" charms - 15 to swap & 1 to keep). You can cut 4-6 fabrics in a stack at a time which makes starting & stopping faster & the color code indicates where to begin later. Align a color coded stack on a lined corner of a marked cutting mat & place fabric with a stripe on top which enables cutting straight lines throughout the stack. Fussy Cuts are cut separately to center the focal point then added to their color stack, adding an element of surprise to the receiver! NOTE: Fabric color is determined by the background, if unsure use the dominant fabric color.
