    Choosing Your Background Fabric:
Chose a neutral solid or semi-solid in white or beige, or perhaps black or another color. Or perhaps you may prefer a neutral script type print like I have used in my first Ark Crossroads. In my second I used a thin-lined black print on white solid for my background. These added interest, but you may prefer just the traditional solid color background.

Have your background fabric chosen for step 2 next week.

    Happy Scrappy Sewing!

Ack! I had to post this first step of the tute in three posts because the website would not accept the document I made. Hope you all saw that there were three posts to Step 1 of our Quiltalong.

    Let the candy sewing begin!

Yeah so excited for this QAL or is it KAL???? I have seen it posted both ways so not sure....tell us Bonnie.

Just a helpful hint for everyone doing the QAL is write down the post number each week. That way if you need to go back and get some info it will be easier to find. (also if you are a newbie and are waiting on a birthday you can work on yours later).

so for the first step: posts 279, 280 and 281.

    Barb

First Contest of the New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Post on this thread....
    1) if you are doing the QAL
    2) if you plan on a color scheme or random
    3) if you are NOT playing along this time.... just give us words of encouragement.

I will then take all the names that have responded (either way) and pick 1 name and send them a prize.

Must post by Sunday 7pm (est) to be entered in the contest.

I have already made a random colored throw sized quilt, and a full bed size in color blocks about two years ago. So this time, (so I have something to photograph for the QAL), I am doing a baby quilt to donate in color blocks.

It really goes together quite fast.

Barb, KAL is a knitalong... for knitters. QAL= quiltalong. At least that's my understanding! I am a knitter too, so I may have inadvertently posted KAL somewhere when I meant QAL.
