I think Moonrise pulled an 'all nighter'... Wonderful blocks, Moon.

GramE, what a scary night! When Hurricane Katrina came through here we thought we'd go down into the basement. Neighbors came over because we have a full underground basement. But we all stayed upstairs gawking out the big picture window at our huge trees bending all the way to the right in the winds. It was a sight to see! After Katrina we had no power for 12 days. Locally, out here in the country everyone owns a chain saw and we all took care of ourselves pretty well, clearing the roads and cutting up timber. The sound of chainsaws was heard all day! There were electric crews on the roads from nearly every state... guys from far away who came here to help us. It was so much fun to talk to them and to feed them. We all had to cook up the meat we had in our freezers before it ruined! Everybody was grilling. It was like a big block party. I haven't experienced such a sense of community-- people wanting to help their neighbors-- in probably all my life.

After Katrina I bought a treadle!

beatiful! I think 12 1/2" blocks are big enough for me. This looks daunting.
