I love these florals. I like the pop of the on black one but I like the softness of the grey.

Ok hear is what sounds like a dumb question. When cutting from a big length of fabric have you found it easier to cut a yard then cut it into eights. Or do you just measure down 18" cut the strip then cut it into 11" sections

I measure 18", then cut a generous 11".

That's pretty much what I do so I usually end up with 3 F8s and a single smaller piece for me due to the shrinkage factor and selvages being cut off.

getting excited - although I was really looking forward to swapping with GramE......(no pressure or anything)
I have been doing the hexies by hand and really enjoying it - thanks to you GramE. Just saying!!

Matching fabric to your stash will give you great ideas. I may have an idea when seeing the F8,but when I see what other fabric I have and would play well, usually it speaks.

Company has invaded. This is my down time - went to LI Sound with one group today. Was overcast but hot. Even the 1 yo loved it cause there were lots of rocks! Tonight having fresh blue claw crabs that family has brought up from MD. There will be about 25+ sitting around picking out crabs and socializing! Great time. Tomorrow will be meeting at the ocean for a very hot humid day. Can't wait. Each day a new adventure.

I realize that there are only 9 on the two month side. I'm probably gonna cave & join. I'll decide next week. I'm in the same fix as Janice. I have medical issues & I need to resolve at least one before I get myself into a bind & have to hand sew 29 12 1/2 " blocks! Glad you are enjoying the hexies. I carry a little bag everywhere with something to sew on!

Enjoy your family/company meal! We had ours last Sunday & it was wonderful.

ok. the pattern on my fabric is perpendicular to the selvages so I cut 11.25" down the selvage and divided the width of the fabric for the other length so a very generous 18". I didn't get 20 fat eighths as a result.... Only have 18 cut right now but I have found more to get two more fat eighths. It sounds like you can get three fat eighths from the width of the fabric if you measure 18" down the selvage to do that cut. My first oops....

Jaba -- I couldn't read the note you posted but my thinking cap is on... both fabrics are coming for the BOOM 17?
