mjp, Feel free to embroider on anything you make for me.
Here's my fabric auditions for BOOM 18. The LEO gold is the focus, with colors I think go well with it. Medium to dark reds, even to purple red. Orange and some yellows. I think I'll wait to decide the sashing.

The Dick and Jane fabric is so unusual I haven't ever seen it before. Some of those prints would take some serious thinking on how to use w/o sacrificing the print.
Romantic stripes and florals, you new guys don't know but the repeat boomers know I can't pass up a stripe! lol (even though "romantic fabric" isn't much in my wheelhouse)

I love it when the fabric starts showing up 😀 Interesting and pretty choices already! Yay!
On the subject of fabric, please remember to remove selvages after washing and pressing. Then cut. Last round we had numerous people forget to remove the selvages and when that happens, suddenly the fabric left to work with is considerably smaller. So please cut pieces 18x11 inches to send. Thanks!
Oh, also a reminder that your goal is a 12 1/2 inch block each time. For those who don't know it, I do check samples from everyone looking for size, good seam allowance and neatness. I will mention to members in a private email if there is something amiss, such as consistently small seams or if I find multiple blocks consistently off in size. Usually, it takes me discovering at least several blocks off by up to a quarter inch before I say anything. It's usually a pretty easy fix, and most of us do it occasionally, so it's not a big deal. But do measure as you go to pick up any issues before you ship. Thanks again!

MJP I love embrodery....havent done it much myself but love the blocks I get with it done to..Im loving ALL the fabric Ive seen so far. I get my other cataract out on Thursday so hopefully I can get back into sewing without seeing different out of both eyes!! I did finish binding my Boom 16 quilt today. I told the quilter to use orange thread when quilting it and she did...First time Ive ever used any color beside black/white in quilting and trying to decide if I like it or not...have a friend that wants to buy it but how do you ever put a price on a quilt you love?? I think the blocks in this quilt are by far my favorite of all the 10 booms + that ive been in!!

Appliqué is more common in recent booms and it makes for some pretty and creative blocks. I got several last round that I love.
I'm an odd quilter in that I'm much better at FMQ, and raw edge applique than piecing. I use a lot of hand embroidery beads, and buttons in my quilts. I haven't done much piecing. I did the Craftsy 2012 BOM and that turned out pretty good. Anyone (3 month boom) who wants hand embroidery or beads on their blocks let me know. The beads would not be good on a bed quilt, only on a wall hanging. I design most of my own quilts and may try to design these blocks but they're going to have to be simple while I work on my skills. It says we can use applique so I may try some of that.

Oh, Joan, it's beautiful! I LOVED this fabric. Re the orange thread I can hardly see it in the pix. And I see my block.
