Question about changing the size of Dresdens. The dresden book I bought has Dresdens that just barely fit into the 12" square frame. They give you the pieces without seam allowance. It seems if I reduced those on a copy machine by 10% and then added seam allowance to the pieces I would be good to go. Am I right or did I miss something. I'll probably make a test block to see.

I never touch the width of the dresden to make it smaller or larger. If you want a smaller or larger you make the blade shorter or longer from the OUTER edge. If you want the inner circle bigger or smaller you make the blade longer or shorter from the INNER edge. My gut said No at first but then when I got to thinking as long as you don't change the angle degree it should work, so I don't know if the way you want to do it will work or not (seems like it should though) but I know my way works.

When I first started making dresdens I bought the missouri star layer cake dresden ruler. https://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop...IaAh73EALw_wcB What I don't care for is they only have full and half inch measurements. I have found that the plate that fits best on a 12" block is 4.25 inches The one I made you is 4" and leaves to much background for my taste. the bottom of the ruler measures 1 inch across and at 4.25" tall it measures 2.25 wide. I have no idea the angle. and it takes 20 blades to make a plate.

Your idea should work and worth a try for sure.

Two more completed! The bra fabric for Quilt Addict is a modified Birds in the Air. I wanted to add a strip of lime green for more color. The block for Jaba is Grandmother’s Choice using a very light mint green. I usually make a practice block first and with Jaba’s block I didn’t. Silly me, I didn’t realize that the largest size block in the book isn’t always a 12.5”. This block was 13”. Luckily I was able to adjust the middle seams and didn’t ruin the points. I am certainly becoming great friends with my seam ripper!!!

I have made three funky chicken quilts with those swaps. One of the three has some funky chickens and the farm animals to go with it. If I have time, I may do the farm animal swap, but don't have any reason to use those blocks right now. I have so many others to finish and my judging paperwork to get done and turned in by April 15.
Getting started back into my blocks. I did finally get the "1000 quilt block book". It did not come in the mail and the tracking did not work, they sent me another. The same day that one arrived, the other one came to a different address. At least I got it. Now to get busy.

Finished Joan Liz’s block before surgery. Today I snuck downstairs and said I would make 1 block. Started out pretty shaky but felt better as I went along. Now back to bed.
