Well....here is my first block for GramE.. I started out trying something a little more complicated for my tester block but stepped back a bit when it didn’t work out. It’s a different experience when your cutting into someone else’s fabric!

And your block looks great too, D. I’m really liking all the red & white we have this time.

Well, my second block was almost done when I realized I followed the directions for a 12 1/2” finished block so now my block is 1/2” to big. There are HST around the outside, so that makes it hard to adjust. Oh well, Hello seam ripper!!

D.Henson, I don't know what block you were making, but sometimes there are internal seams you can adjust. The Around the Block books have both 12" and 12.5" blocks (finished) and sometimes I just adjust those inner pieces to make the bigger blocks come out at 12" too... if I really want to make one that is a 12.5" block.

This is going to be a sneak peak for Cheese, and a little shameless bragging b/c I'm so pleased w/ myself right now, lol. I was cutting Cheese's fabric into stacked repeats to make parts of the block to come. I had enough room in the repeat for 6 triangle stacks, now what I have in mind to do 6 would work, but 7 would be perfect, but there wasn't enough room for 7 .................................................. .................................. when you cut triangles from a strip of fabric you have the small end pieces these end pieces are only about half the size of the triangle you are cutting and usually just tossed. I had 4 ends, so I sewed those 4 stacks of 4 each tiny triangles into small triangles then into small squares then into my 7th repeating square. Now I could have bragged to my husband about this feat of ingenuity but he just wouldn't have "gotten" it. lol lol lol Here is a pic of the 7 squares.
