Ok! So if I’m understanding right, you cut the other direction. It’s too late for this boom but next time I cut fat 1/8ths I’ll do it this way. Thank you!

PamelaOry, I wash and dry my fabric and then cut the selvedge edges off. I measure 18 inches in from the cut off selvedge edge and cut. Then I cut it into 11 inch pieces. The scrap left on the folded edge is what I use to make my blocks for myself. I get 6 - 18" X 11" cuts from a yard with generous scraps left for me to use. I always buy 3 1/2- 4 yards of fabric for each group. This way, I know I can cut mine 18" X 11". This is just my way of cutting it. Everybody has their own way of doing it. Whatever works best for you.
I do my quilts the QAYG method. I plan on 30 12 1/2" blocks for each quilt and my 3 1/2- 4 yards of fabric gives me plenty to do all my extra blocks with.

Terri, since you seem to be missing snow I thought Id share some of mine! LOL...this is my wind spinner that caught alot of the 14 inches we got. They just came by this morning and did the road and my neighbors brother came over and shoveled out my driveway..was so appreciative of him!! No school anywhere around the area tomorrow. It sure is beautiful hanging off the trees!!

Joan, enjoy your pretty snow. It's fun if you can stay in the house for a few days and just sew. (I guess I better not complain about our rain.)

Where did you get your wind spinner? I would love one in my yard. They fascinate me.

I have a plan for my "double up" fabric... I'm going to use shirt fabric and try to complete a quilt I have started. I have these 4 blocks, all QAYG, that need some playmates. Any design is fine. I'll be sending all different pieces of shirts, plus a small piece of the red, in case you want to make a red center block as I have (optional!). I'm going to ask that a neutral background be used, and other shirt plaids, stripes or small shirting prints be used only. Or plaid homespuns... Mixing up colors is good.

I hope no one minds working with shirt fabric. I love shirt quilts! So cozy.

Deboned shirts are always fun to play with.

Here is my top from boom 21 Dunes. I’m thinking I’ll do a 2 in black border then...I don’t know, seems like it could benefit from something else, what do you guys think?

Looks great, I see my block. After your 2 inch black I think a bias stripe binding would look good.

Hoping to make my flight to California on Tuesday (if I can get thru the icy/snow to the airport) to visit my 82 y/o mother and bring her these little placemats and topper to brighten her dining table I made the topper today as a warm-up for the Boom! This was my 1st attempt at Y seams Afterwards, I played with the leftover fabrics to test my La Pass skills - this is my 1st attempt at a Rosette (not yet sewn) and will be my travel hand sewing project for the trip. Posting a pic here since Kassaundra's beautiful work is what has inspired me to try my hand at EPP

I love all of the fabrics presented for the Boom and am eager to get creative soon!
