Depends what you want your finished quilt to look like--all the same focus fabric for 20 blocks, or some coordinating fabrics, or all the same print in a variety of colors.

Ladies I decided to get a head start on blocks for myself for the Boom. This might be picture heavy. I have been a long time lurker of the boom threads as I think they are just fantastic and look to be so much fun. I really wanted to join in this one but forgot there was 4 sets of postage not just 2. Having checked out prices it would be £60-£80 ($75-$100) just in postage which I think makes it prohibitive for now at least.

I will continue to read these threads with interest (and a teeny bit of jealousy haha)

Queenbarbiej- gorgeous blocks! I love that dark blue fabric used in the first block. What is the name of the next to the bottom block, the dark brown with the cream print star in the middle? That one just speaks to me. I want to make myself one of those.

Thanks for all the welcomes! The book I bought was Around the Block with Judy Hopkins, 200 Rotary-Cut Blocks in 6 sizes. It is a great book and everything I have made from it comes out the right size, yay!

Off this evening to see the movie Yesterday -- the concept intrigues me. A musician finds out he is the only person left who remembers the Beatles and their songs. He becomes an instant hit as he starts recording the songs. I hope it's good, but at the least it will be air conditioned! Super hot and humid here.

I keep my baggies and use them repeatedly as long as they don't have a hole in them anywhere.
When I send a finished block back for a lady, I put it back into her bag, neatly folded. I turn her request note over to the back and write who the block is for and who made it. I put it into the bag so that the note shows on the opposite side of the bag from the owner's board name sticker. That way Janice knows who it goes to from either side of the bag.
I just thought this might be a help to some of the new ladies. Hope I didn't bore you to bad. LOL
Great explanation Libster! I think I can manage that and keep everyone's blocks straight.

Love your picks Julia! Especially that top one...I've really been getting into oranges and greens.

Your whimsy fabrics are wonderful!
