I may have to slow down a bit here for the next week or possibly more. My mother, in a nursing home, is very ill. In the last few weeks she has gone from alert, oriented, and very active to on bed rest, disoriented and confused. She is going down hill quickly and this morning I received all call from the nursing home that she has pneumonia. She hardly knows if someone is there. So I have to be ready on a moments notice. I am in touch several times a day with the nursing home right now and currently waiting for a call from her doctor. I am hoping to get an idea of what to expect as a prognosis. She is 93 yrs. old. I will try to stay caught up here when ever possible. Right now my sewing is keeping my mind busy as I take care of DH. I am started to get a bit overwhelmed.

Hav...oh no! Your poor arm...that looks miserable. Sending you lots of TLC... Is this going to interfere with helping your Mom with chemo?

And Juliasb...sorry to hear about your Mom. I'm glad sewing has been helpful to keep your mind engaged. I'm glad you can be there for her and totally understand you might be busy with that. I will be sewing with your fabrics soon. Each block I work on seems to be like a prayer for my sewing pals. I will keep Mom in that thought too.

Juliasb, don’t fret about blocks. You have plenty of time to finish making them. We will all agree that your mother takes precedence over everything right now. Hugs and best wishes to you both.

JuliaB you might want to ask doc about a UTI, every time my mom had one he deteriorated rapidly. After a few days of meds she was back to her old self. Sending prayers I know her rough it is

Thank you so much I appreciate the prayers. Was up to the nursing home this morning. I am not sure that she recognized me but she kept calling out my name. I would tell her I am here and that was about all. It would calm her for a moment. My sister was with me and just kept calling out for me. I would tell her that my sister was here too and she would look for her. Then she would fall off to sleep. So that is how it is now. Time will tell.

Thank you Janice for the thoughts. I came home today and just wanted to rest I was exhausted. It is very stressful seeing her go down hill so very quickly. I do however she will hang in there for a couple weeks or so. Just depends on the pneumonia does. I cut another block out a few minutes ago but that is about it for today.
I am so use to getting my blocks done early in the swap and the stitching is a stress reliver. You are so kind. As you said there is plenty of time. Thanks for the understanding.

That is part of the problem. Her liver is also having a problem and so are her kidneys. She has multiple organs that are shutting down. She has an advanced directive that I am carefully following. To keep her comfortable it the most important thing. Now to try and get a bit of rest.
