From Janice

Texting is spotty. All safe here. Son and fam got to us yesterday. They were in worse shape.

No internet. Boiling water but at least we have water now. Generator still running beautifully.

Hugs to you and the boomers. Ok to share what I text. Miss you all. Will try to keep in touch.

HAV another fantastic block. Thank you so much

Sewbiz glad hubby was able to fix the roof and get safely back on the ground. My hubby was putting up Christmas lights on the roof, ladder broke and down he went. He no longer goes up on the roof

I made 2 blocks yesterday but no pictures yet. Felt good to sit down and sew and think rationally. Only 2 left to make.

Unfortunately I have to call the ortho today, my shoulder has already started to ache again. Dang dang dang,

Terri, Janice and SBG, thank you for keeping us posted on how you are all managing with this storm! I've been thinking and praying for you all! Over here in Kansas the weather has turned to beautiful fall temperatures and it's hard to imagine that across the country people are having their homes and lives destroyed.

I got a new desk lamp and light bulb for my sewing machine and cutting table. My eyes aren't as good as they were a couple of years ago and I'm finding my blocks struggling to be accurate 12.5". I think more lighting will help!

Hav - your circles are amazing. So precise. And love the new block for me - this quilt is gearing up!!
thankful for updates from you all and others about the storm. It will be a very long time just to assess the damages. But there are some very giving people out there - heard Samaritans Purse set up a place for those needing oxygen. And then there are the farmers who have lost so much.

We finally got internet hooked up after a week. I thought DH would be going batty. - And I truly understand the praying and asking God to protect him while he is fixing things.

Here are two for Sewbizgirl. Used her fabrics as requested and had to do some seaming but I like how cheery they look.

Great blocks TG! I love how SBG's yellow, black and white fabric pop in all of the blocks that everyone has made. So much so that I am considering using those colors in the next Boom, I already have fabric but need to measure it out to see if there is enough for a group.

I just love those two blocks, TG!! Thank you for creating two cute ones!

We are home now from the Memphis trip to fix the house after the water heater burst. Restoration team did a great job extracting water and drying everything out. SIL and DS put in the new water heater yesterday. Hubby did a good job with the roof stuff. The only thing left to be taken care of is a part of the ceiling in the living room will have to come out and be replaced. It's the old plaster style and hubby wants it put back just as was, so we are looking for a good plaster worker in the Memphis area. Whew! Good to be home.

Janice, hope all goes well up there and things are restored faster than they thought it would take. It's a blessing your kids had your home to escape to. What we are seeing is just unbelievable. Over 1000 people are "missing" and death count is at 119. Just awful.

So glad to hear all of the good news. Well the news that all are well and functioning well within their limitations. I saw some of the aerial photos this evening and that saw true devastation. It makes our May tornado look like "kid's stuff".

I spent the morning and part of the afternoon sorting 2.5" squares and dreaming of what I can do with so many of them. Boy, as fast as I make a quilt, a bin fills up again. I managed to "clean up" some of my little odds and ends with an eye toward my retreat this week-end. I hate, yes I said hate, coming home to a messy house. I cut and have partially assembled a block this afternoon when the "umph" just left me. I can finish it tomorrow and create another using the same pattern perhaps. I only have 5 to finish before Friday. Ya, would think I could do that.

Stay safe all, and I will be praying for those of you who are in such fragile and shaky times.

We got a gas water heater by Bradford White, from a plumbing distributor my SIL used to work for. They are only available from distributors, not in stores. Hopefully it will last a long time.

My son and the fam made it out of Asheville to come to us yesterday. All is well with them but they had to leave as they had no water or power n their home. Charlie is sick, running a fever but nothing serious.

Power is out at home but we’ve got a generator so all s good there. Lost water for 36 hours but it’s up more or less but we’re boiling and rationing in case it fails again. Our house is safe but the pond across the street threatened to engulf our yard but the rain stopped in the Nick of time. Gas lines are long where they’re even open. Stores are mostly shut but where they are open there are two hours to check out. Cash only. Entire towns have been washed away along rivers. Worst I’ve ever seen. Truly was the thousand year storm. Our outback is likely totaled. It was at the dealership for a service and the whole area flooded. No idea about that yet but at least it’s only a car.

im able to sew (thank you Jenny the Generator) and have worked a little to keep me sane.

Time to head home. Be well all. I’ve been texting with Terri. That’s the only contact with the outside world we have.
Janice, so glad to hear you are safe, along with your family. The devastation is truly heartbreaking.

Wow beautiful blocks for Sewbiz TG

Lstew thank you for my great block, I only have 2 more to make. It’s been nice doing only a couple a day, can enjoy making the blocks for a longer time.

Heading back to the Orthopedics today. Already starting to have more pain in my shoulder. Dang
