Boom 33 Stars
#271
Just got back from my local quilt meeting. They all loved the yellow 'bee' quilt! It was decided that it would be specially donated to a member of the church who is a young woman taking chemo for breast cancer. You can feel good about that! God bless her!
Someone had donated a box of mostly fleece fabric to our group. I ended up taking a few pieces home so as not to waste it (the remainder will be ditched). So now I'm going to make a bunch of receiving blankets! Simple and quick!

Lstew, I’m sorry to hear about your mother. Hopefully she’ll heal quickly. Let us know how it goes for her.
Here’s a block for SBG. It’s an Aunt Eliza block. It’s one of my favorite stars and built on a diagonal. Exactly the kind of block I fret about but it turned out practically perfect in size. Phew! What a relief. In the pic the dark looks almost black but it is deep purple, a good match for that in your fabric. The colors are off in my pic. Hope you like it, SBG.
Have a good evening.

Lstew, that is scary about your mother! I'm glad to hear it was clean break but that is still scary!
Janice, good to hear that Ernie is back to being himself today! Your blocks are a wonderful start to the swap too!
Not much news quilty on my end. I'm still just slowly making my blocks for the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt. I nearly got sucked into another quilt pattern (squirrel!) but I resisted for now! I am really looking forward to the fabrics arriving so that we can start playing!

Me too! (the friendly chatter...).
I got two blocks made today and must apologize to TG. BurgSur is short for Burgoyne Surrounded, a really cool quilt block. Here are the two, if you'd like to see them. They aren't all that beautiful by themselves, but all together with 20 or so others will look great, I hope!

Not so good morning. I woke up with a sore throat and it’s painful to swallow and talk. What fresh “heck” is this? Good thing I have an appointment with the doc for later today. Guess who’ll be masking up for the first time in years. I’m just hoping I haven’t given it to DH already.
The packages are almost ready. I worked on getting those who are playing with two sets into a single package and succeeded. (More money for fabric!). Now to finish up the rest and they’ll be off tomorrow. I think this may be one of the most colorful sets of fabrics we’ve had. It’s been a pleasure working with them.
Terriamn, so funny. Guess that iron is finished.
Ernie just ran for the door to be let out. When he came back in he strutted to the bedroom to go back to bed. I think I’ll follow his example.

Here are my two efforts for this month. Baby Quilt #1 - Back is the same fabric as the fussy cut squares.... sweet little animal families in the woods.
The second is the Spring Boom 31 in its 80% finished state. It is currently 52 X 66 and I need to expand it closer to 70 X 90. Thinking narrow scrappy sashing followed by a black or cream border all around and then perhaps some sort of HST or suddo flying geese top and bottom with another black or cream border to add length. I have less than a fat quarter of the focus fabric left so I have to use it sparingly. Suggestions are welcome. This will be donated to a hospice center.
The Boom quilt is much brighter than in the photo. The light bleached out the colors significantly.
How is everyone feeling after this snuffly day? And Janice, your appointment? Was it with your surgeon? I have lost track. OOPS!

Oh no. RSV. Hope it doesn't make you any sicker. Get better, Janice.
Ready for F8s!
WMUT, what a darling baby quilt. The quilting is cute too! Lovely gift. And the boom quilt looks good. I think I made two blocks in that quilt.
Here, at last, is my first Bee quilt. I love how it turned out. Stole the setting design from NZQ. If you don't see your block, it's because it's in the second quilt, soon to be quilted and finished. Good job, everyone. Someone is going to be very happy. Second pic is the back, which you don't have to put in the gallery, Janice. Wait just a sec and I'll add the pics. It's from Boom 32.
Thank you to Reba for this pretty fabric!

Update on my mother, she is doing great. She got moved to a rehab facility on Wednesday and she is staying busy with classes, PT and OT all day long. She doesn't have time to get bored. Pain is being controlled with regular Tylenol. Her only complaint is the food has no taste. My Aunt and sister are bringing her meals. The Dr's think she will only be in the facility for a week and then on to my aunt's house. Couldn't ask for a better outcome. Thank you for all the well wishes, I have been passing them along to her.

Lstew, so glad to hear your Mom is doing so well. Big smile!
SusieQ, can't believe your blues bled! If you got that fabric locally at a LQS, I would take it back and show them. You would think Kaffe Fasset would have a more reliable dying system.
I'm thinking I saw a "color remover" product at the store, near dryer sheets and color catchers. If you can find something like that, it might be worth a try to apply it just to the color stained area. Good luck. Worse case scenario: You live with the quilt as it is. It's not that bad or noticable. I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
You could also try washing the quilt again, with a bunch of color catchers.
Janice, hope the postman comes soon so you can go take a nap. Sleeping and drinking water are like meds, only better.

There is only one thing better than seeing each and every block made- and that is to see the blocks made into quilts.
WTeach -It always amazes met that everyone sees a different variation of the colors, and they all meld together perfectly.
SBG - love that it will be going to someone so special.
SusieQ - pretend that the coloring really wasn't solid - but was supposed to be that way! The colors still all mesh together
I was testing a new to be pattern on my fabric. I think it will play well with a few of your fabrics.

Sewbiz- I didn't get the Kaffe fabric at a quilt shop. I got it from Quilt in a Day I believe.
Gramma- that's exactly what I thought! Since I used such a light border I decided to make believe it was that color LOL.
I may try to get it out. Need to check what the stores carry. I have color catchers so maybe that's a start.
But I may just live with it. It's really only the border that's noticeable. I love the way it turned out.

Packages are on their way. Woo hoo.
SusieQ, your quilt is beautiful. Never mind the bleeding; pretend it’s the way it’s supposed to be.
Ernie demanded his dinner early this evening. I, of course, obeyed! Now he’s stuck taking a nap with me. No long walks today.
Have a nice rest of your weekend.

I had a semi-successful day at the Sew-In today. So glad I labled each strip with a sticky note, pinned in place on the strips so I could remember what went where. Then I started to stitch. Wooh, wait there, I need some fabric for the large stars that hold all of the strips together. Didn't bring anything, not one piece. O-o-o-o, there is a give-away table, success! I found a piece of fabric, not great quality but good enough for this quilt that will likely just rest over the back of a chair now and again and not get used much. Cut all the star centers and star legs and returned to the colored strips. Found lots of errors, what was I thinking? Well, I kept at it and now have taken a few baby steps forward to finishing.
When I was looking through my notes, it was from the 2022 Birthday Swap squares. I will press forward later this week and start juggling between our newest Boom and this UFO. Not ready for photos yet. Just a pile of strips and pieces in a project box.
Good news on the mom, Ernie as a snugly nap buddy, and bleeding challenge seems to be under control.
Thank you, Janice for getting the packages ready when you are felling crummy. Work above and beyond the call for any hostess. Now take a rest.

Yes, thank you Janice, for getting all that mail out. When I did the hostessing, I used two of the bigger laundry baskets to tote all the packages to the P.O. There's a lot of them!
I'm sure Ernie is happy to be a nap buddy.
WMUT, you got lucky at the sewing day! Yay.
