I also like non-Xmas-themed ornaments --- but then for a long time we had a flamingo as a topper for our tree!
And we have conventional ones too, antiques from both sides of the family, cherished Xmas ones from my mom.
I just made one that's a visual pun (a "catbird seat") - good concept, execution just so-so.
Now I'm going to go full Xmas.
