January - June 2021 Round Robin
#221
Another amazing Round Robin. I would be lost if I needed to add a border to any of these blocks. I will be watching in amazement as each quilt grows. I do enjoy hearing why or how you chose your border (it helps me to learn).
I am fascinated with Jacquie's techniques of designing the border before she receives the block, working from measurements and pictures. I could not do this! I believe she is the only one using this method. If others are doing this, then I am even more amazed.
Keep up with the excellent progress.

I use graph paper on 'microsoft word' with a picture downloaded from here to then decide on a border I may use...
I work on 1 square = 1" of a block. I shrink the picture until it fits my graph sizes... then draw colour my border idea... Just have a play and see if it could work for you...

Mona, I really like the border you added...especially how you brought out the pinks in the focus fabric. Thanks!
Jacquie, WOW! I am amazed at all the detail you put into your borders. I am working on the one on your center today and hope I don't disappoint.
Hope to have pictures by the end of the weekend/mail on Monday...well Tuesday when I go to town next.

Here is my border for Mona's Group 2 center. Plus a close up so you can see the colors a little better.
Here are a couple of the fabrics I'll be using for my border on Jacquie's center...barn board and chicken wire.

One of the things I love about quilting is the learning and experimenting (doesn't help me finish projects) but does give me hours of fun! Thank you for sharing your tricks with me and other quilters.

Thanks! I was thinking about doing more color but wanted to bring the black back in...then I saw that dotty fabric with the teal and purple and knew that was it! The more I look at your border on my center I see how you drew out most of the colors in different shades...I can't wait to see it in person!
