This medallion, is raw edge. I'm asking my group to give me your feed back: are you OK with this or do you want me to submit something else? This is a first attemp and it's way too big. It will require making it again within the size parameters. So changing it is not an additional step. I like what I've got and will finish it myself.

petthefabric--How big is "way too big"? Is it a rectangle or are there places that the next person would need to "fill in"? If so I would recommend you at least make it have even sides

Petthefabric, I've fine with what ever you want to do. that is half the fun, figuring out what will go with what we get.

Here is one word of advice to everyone - as you work on rounds, make sure to measure across the middle and the outer edges to keep it squared up. Normally if you are adding pieced blocks it's easier to keep them the correct dimension, but if you are putting in borders or rows that have variations, it can be really easy to get a bit of stretch happening.

For the last Round, I received one top that was 2" wider on the outer sides than in the middle (both directions). I only measured across the middle and figured it was perfect and I made the border with 6" blocks and when I went to attach it, there was no way I could make it fit. That is when I figured out what the problem was. I ended up taking off a few rows and resewing them to take out the excess. This problem started happening early on, with about a 1/2" extra. It's real easy to "ease" back a 1/2" with the next round if you catch that it needs to happen. In this case each progressive round got a bit longer. This top has several "filler" border strips, and those are prone to this problem.

Great advice! Last time I sent tops with blocks that had bias in the borders, and received them. Its always best to do as you recommended. This time, I may even baste the edges if I send with bias in the blocks. Its amazing how much stretch happens without much handling of the top by the end of the project. Live and learn. Hugs!!

I was once in a row robin. My row for some reason was always at the top. No row was added above it. When all of the rounds were added and returned to me, the bottom row was two inches wider than my row. I had no ideas about correcting and it ended up in the round file. I was so disappointed as I had put a lot effort into my row.

Please, always take measurements before starting.
