January secret Pal Sign Up Closes Dec 30th (noon)

Hi Krystyna! I had such a wonderful visit with my children and grandchildren! I miss them terribly, but it is always nice to return to the comforts of home and my own bed and PILLOW!!! I am like a child with a security blanket when it comes to MY pillow, LOL!!! I actually returned late Saturday, and just this morning finished unpacking as I needed my rotary cutter and favorite scissors, which I took with me to share some quality sewing time with my daughter and grandson. My 10 y/o GS made some lovely potholders this year. It's wonderful to see your FDIL, Melissa's projects and feel her excitement! She certainly has a very talented mentor!

Oh oh oh, I almost thought this was me till you got to the part where it says she likes brown. It's not that I don't like brown but I know it was not listed as a color of my favorites...... :-(

The microwave fabric bowl is put in the mircowave when you heat up soup etc. and then you can take it out without burning your hands! The sherpa messenger bag was really easy but messy, i had that fluffy stuff all over Marty's diningroom lol

Robyn, hugs and love coming your way.
Mary what a great mystery quilt! You made it on New Year's Day????
Lori, love the bag! Can you explain the microwave dish thing to me?
And can anyone who does machine embroidery explain towel toppers to me. Do you put them right onto a towel? I'm confused.
Melissa's scarves are coming out sooooo beautifully! I am incredibly impressed with how fast she is learning to sew and with her creative process. Watch out Etsy! You have a rising star!
And hands off the big buttons. I think that even though I donated them I might have to buy them back for some aprons without strings. Some of them look like big cookies.
I am confused about Pinterest. At first glance it looks like a jumble. More confusion for this old lady.
Yesterday I spent a good part sewing and watching Nancy Zeiman videos on my computer. Well, mostly listening since I wasn't in the mood to sew my fingers together. I just love her! I joined QNNTV when the board changed, but the free videos at Wisconsin TV are easier to watch.

thanks all for your comments. the new years day mystery quilt along was hosted by planet patchwork and is a quilt pattern by merry mayhem. she was online on facebook from 9-3 (EST) while she dispensed clues every hour. a group of us qb members got together and had our own sew along. here is the link to see some of the other quilts made (or started) that day. http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...t-t170717.html
you can make the quilt in one day but it takes hours to get it done. i was determined to make this quilt without buying any fabric so i used fabrics i received in my secret pal swaps. i almost made it. i bought the off-white tonal.
here is a link for a tute to the fabric bowls. i was thinking of making some for an upcoming swap package at least one time this year. i had bought that messenger bag with the intentions of giving in a swap but it is so bulky. maybe i will give it in a christmas in july swap box.
