I have a plan to sew my blocks into a top. Does that count?

NZ! It looks lovely! Don't you love it when your 'better half' praises your work? I know I do. :-)

QM I did the same block, and yes, I've got some more blocks left over. I'm enjoying the chance to make more than one top.

Whigrose, you have to post a picture of your plan for it to count. :-p :-)

Here is what I have so far... 4 rows of my quilt. These are sewn. I think this is going to be the full width of the quilt, but I will do 12 rows. So I have enough blocks to do two of these... or something else!

From the beginning I planned to sew the blocks directly together, alternating the darks and lights where they come together, so they don't 'melt' into each other. Changed the plan a few times, but came back to this. I love it.

Cheesehead and NZQ, your quilts are beautiful! (I see one of my blocks in Cheesehead's quilt.)

Thank you to everyone for the nice comments on my quilt. Janice I chose your block for the very center, it's the one you made and mailed to me using the fabrics from the Boom swap. I adored the fabric you used!

NZ, your 9 patches turned into a Wow quilt, it's just stunning! And no AC, yikes?! I too love your hardwood floors.

SBG, love how your quilt is coming along, bet you have been busy spinning seams! Looking forward to seeing the progress on your quilt!

Ha! No, not spinning... because so many of the seams don't match up just perfectly. So I gave up on that, but I do appreciate all the blocks I got with spun seams! Really cuts down on bulk at the intersections.

Is spinning the seams just something you do when your press? Like snip center then iron differently? I need to watch a few youtube videos on how to spin seams. These small scrappy quilts and some blocks do get very bulky and ugly on the back.

SBG, your first 4 rows look great. Your quilt will sure be colorful.

Thanks, D.Henson!

To spin seams you usually do not have to snip anything. The last stitch or two of the seams at the center usually just pop open if you twist them right. It's easier for you see in a video than I can explain with words. I know YouTube has some.

Cheesehead, <3 The very center? Be still my heart! That fabric is just about my all time favorite.

SBG, That's what I was doing with my little quilt where I sewed the 9patches directly together. I had laid the blocks out on my bed correctly, then when I picked the blocks up to sew into rows I either put the blocks together wrong, or a row upside down, or something! I didn't notice my mistake until I'd already sandwiched the layers and quilted some rows. Not the time to correct a mistake! lol

I see you've got your blocks very well arranged.

Oh! Everyone! Isn't it fun to see a quilt with blocks you have made being used in it!
