This is so exciting being a member of this group - it's my first swap so I am just overwhelmed with the excitement and productivity of everyone. I love reading the comments and especially oohing and aawing over the pictures. I thought I had decided what I was going to do with my nine patches, but after seeing all of the other suggestions, I am now really confused. I see the word "Boom" mentioned often in the replies - can someone explain what that is?

The Boom Swaps are swaps for 12.5" blocks. Each member sends in one fat eighth of fabric for every other member in the group. Then each member makes the block of their choice using the fat eighth and some of their own fabric. They are then sent back to the coordinator, who then sends everyone their blocks made out of their own fabric. They make some beautiful sampler quilts that way.

Janice McC is the coordinator of the Boom swaps. She does a great job.

Here are the links to the current Boom swaps, in progress:

Boom 20 - Hummingbird 2 month group

Boom 20 - Quail 3 month group

And here is a link to the gallery of blocks and finished quilts from past Boom swaps:
https://boomerangswaps.weebly.com/

Don't forget to look at the finished quilts. The gallery gives you a good idea of how the swap works.

Ok, I love 9 patch blocks and they do go together quickly. Great leader and ender too so I think I am in. I will use them as leader and enders with my Boom Quilt blocks. Sending PM.

Libster, it's a darling 9P. I love it! Yes, I thought I'd do 'prep work' for the this swap and the Boom swap too. :-) It's a great way to keep sewing on the top while waiting for the blocks to come in.

I hate to do this, but I am going to have to cap this off at 20 swappers. I had no idea this swap was going to be so popular! I just don't think I can handle more than 20 and do a good job. Think about it... 20 swappers x 80 blocks = 1600 blocks to swap! Not everyone is sending in 80, but most are.... So when #20 signs up, we will be closed.

We can repeat this swap again later, and I think we should. We all accumulate more scraps than we can use up, so it would benefit everyone who likes making these 9Ps, to keep swapping. You can always find a use for the pretty blocks.

Cheesehead, I love your idea for the 9Ps. That makes a nice quilt pattern. I like seeing the ideas of what people plan to make using these cute little blocks.

My plan for today will be to start making my 9Ps. I made a few yesterday, however, they were all a tad bit small. I went back to SBG #2 post and realized I didn’t use the scant seam! Thanks Sewbiz for such great info.

In the yearly birthday swap that is going on (in which 2 1/2" candies are swapped), there was just shared a cute setting for a 9patch block. You could adapt this coordinated fabric setting idea to be a scrappy one and it would look cute! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifBfOZpMcvw

I love Jenny Doan's ideas!

Darcyshannon, welcome! Please read all of the first post with all the instructions, so all swappers will be on the same page. And then pm me with your real name and address and I'll put you on the swappers list. We are nearly at capacity... only 2 spots left open!
