We got out early to enjoy the cool morning by taking a walk at the city park (nice and rolling . . . leaves are starting to change their colors). We'll probably watch a couple of college football games on TV, and in between that I plan to pull out some fabric for this month's mug rug . . . maybe post a picture of the choices

No lawn here in the SoCal desert. Some nice trees, but we have had to cut way back on watering, so everything is struggling. Still too warm to be outside except in the early morning. I've been working on my DD Christmas quilt. It's for their camper, so I am appliquéing little trailers on it. Out the back of each trailer I embroidered one of their dogs tails. Today I'll look for mug rug fabrics.

Why don't you all hop over to the October mini quilt swap? So much fun and does not to be bigger than a mug rug.
I am sending my very first redwork piece. A great change from my bold & bright style. Sweet!! Maybe you will be my partner.

Just an update ladies, we have 29 signed up to exchange these little beauties. Pass the word, couple of more days to sign up and then I will post your partner's.
Got the falling leaves all mowed and an hour later it looked like I hadn't done a thing...Still the lawn is covered

The leaves are just starting to turn here. So far I only have a few on the ground from my small tree in the front. Instead of raking I have my son mow the grass and only rake if I have to and then we put our leaves in the devil strip and the city picks them up. You sure have a good start for this month's swap

Spent the weekend with some gal pals sewing in the Adirondacks. One of my friends have a cottage and this is the second year we had a sewing weekend there. Went to the Crazy Moose quilt shop in Inlet and the Old Forge Hardware Store. . If you are in the area, don't miss either. Leaves are turning and the sun was out. A gorgeous weekend.

The devil strip is the piece of lawn between the sidewalk and the curb

we call that the boulevard here in Minneapolis. but out here in Columbia Heights , most of residential streets dont have those even. not allowed to rake into street--all must be put inot brown biodegradable paper bags you an buy at hardware store. City will pick up as many as a dozen bags per week
