Was the envelope you used a business size? If it was, maybe it has to do with the dimensions of the envelope, too.

I put my 50 2.5 squares together on a sheet of cardboard. I then warpped them in saranwrap and made sure the air was out of it. I put them in an envelope and took one to my local post office. I was told it would cost 86 cents to mail one. One reason is because of what is in it. She said since it was fabric it should not go through the machine, (which I agree with). Seems like some of us on the board get different answers from different post offices. I took these pictures the best I could to show how thin they are. Just wanted to let you all know. I am sure others will have different experiences.

Legal size doesn't make a difference, but if an envelope is more than 1/4"full, it is considered a package, and costs more.

I finished ( a little late) my valentine sofa cover. I made the heart pillow in the picture last year......lots of buttons. I had to dye the buttons pink.

I still need to quilt it.........that will be soon. I have to make a baby quilt and of course it is PINK.......sorta sick of pink right now!

Barb! Love them! How do you dye buttons?

barbarakibler23 02-17-2013 09:24 AM

dying buttons is pretty easy just time consuming. you need to buy dye-rite following the instructions.
I found that if the water is hot it seems to go a little quicker. I found this info of course on PINTEREST! Craft buttons in the packages from Michaels or Joann seem to work better than just white buttons you would find on a shirt. But you can dye any button. I did dye some grey ones also gave a really pretty mauve pink.
