ps love the posted batiks. It would be wonderful to see the fabrics that are being chosen.. sorta a sneak peak into our works in progress.... even if its a selection of which to chose.. I will post the one set that Tammy pics. Its hard to get things on here I have to put them on facebook THEN move them here.. so rather do that with one pic not 10!

I think they are both gorgeous, but I think i like the sawtooth just a little bit more.

Here's what I was thinking for you...let me know what you think...Nothing's set in stone, so if there's something you don't like, let me know.

Y'all are doing amazing things!!! Loving everything I'm seeing so far. :) Keep up the good work. Ok ladies and gents...I'll be on and off the next few days. We are about to get pelted with more ice and snow this time in Houston. We are really NOT equipped to handle this sort of thing. That being said...I'll be on and off depending on if I have to come to work with my 3 year old the next couple of days. I won't be happy, but I'll deal with it I guess...

ArizonaKAT 01-27-2014 09:19 AM

Yosamitesa - hang in there with the weather. I hate to tell you all but Arizona got rain today. Very unusual . . . and it's heading east . . . turning into bad weather I would assume. Everyone stay safe and home quilting if possible.

MDQUILTER: I love your pattern . . . and I'm headed home to start on the sawtooth.

We are still in the 50's. Waiting for this to hit. Ugh...

Gannyrosie 01-27-2014 06:56 PM

Hi all, MamaWalsh and I have decided we both want to be surprised. I have agreed to make something patriotic in bright colors since they are a military family. Myself, I told her whatever, I just want the surprise. I am enjoying all the threads on her though. It will be exiting to see all the end results. Everyone stay safe who is still getting hit with this artic freeze. New Orlleans and surrounding will be just about shut down for next two days due to ice on roads. Happy quilting.

Think it is a sew day for sure! To cold to go outside, -3 right now in my corner of the world.

dabbler312 01-28-2014 08:03 AM

A sick day Sunday and yesterday and today my car won't start - the thermometer on the garage reads -20 and on the radio I heard -17 (not sure what the wind chill is) BRRRR it's cold. Waiting on a co-worker to pick me up - wish I was staying home today for a sew day to get caught up after losing two days to illness. Sun is shining and it's beautiful outside and the air is just crisp and it smells so fresh.

Yosamitesa 01-28-2014 11:18 AM

It's ugly here. Took lil man to work with me. Home now. About to be nap time for him.

Shortnsweet and I have made contact. Having fun, poor thing just moved so her sewing room is in a disarray at this time. That is ok. we have a few months to get things done.

Here is my new baby and she now sits at my feet while am sewing.

dabbler312 01-28-2014 02:11 PM

QuilterMomma what an adorable little puppy - and sew smart as well.

mumukate 01-28-2014 04:00 PM

since i have to wait til payday to get the fabric for this quilt, i decided to go through scraps for a quilt top for the church group. cut 8",5" and 3" blocks for HSTs today. tomorrow i will cut some 3" white blocks and start sewing blocks together. we meet 2nd wednesday of the month to layer and tie knot the tops so have a little time to finish it

mumukate 01-28-2014 07:22 PM

Well, roseirish48...I decided to nix the flannel idea. I'm afraid to combine textures like that. I found something I hope will work in it's place. Flannel shrinkage was a huge concern even tho I planned on pre-washing. I couldn't change my fabric order, but they have an excellent return policy and said I could return it for credit or trade. That surprised me since it was cut yardage. LOVE Connecting Threads! Gonna go see how the replacement fabric looks in EQ7.

Nexxus831 01-28-2014 08:57 PM

Oh man now I want a puppy

Elisabrat 01-29-2014 07:46 AM

I was just telling the dh that the puppy was ADORABLE. however that said they have to be.. ah no NOT MY SHOES oh oh not on the carpet! uh no puppies for brat any longer. The last puppy took the last need to have one. Golden gorgeous dog, goofy dog, 6 months to house train with constant full time care watching and encouraging her. She just got to happy and too busy and well instantly forgot.. no nope no. If I ever get a dog again it will be an unadoptable senior from the shelter. The kind that has no business being in a shelter. (but love those puppy photos so send away Beth we all love to admire them! and yours is super cute!).

I think snow today? maybe.. probably. It doesn't bug me much staying inside all day long. Off to quilt on a round robin. I have my blocks picked out for Tam Moo. Well some of them. I have to make a lot more. I am going to go as per her wishes with more red/white than red white green for Christmas. Tammy, have to put a bit of green in it is CHRISTMAS :) but not too much ok? white sashing, maybe a red frame up.. or ribbon! how about a red ribbon? all around the Christmas blocks think that would look smashing..

Tam...Moo 01-29-2014 07:52 PM

Ok Brat put that Christmas green in there too...I cannot wait to see what you create...I know it will be beautiful.

Elisabrat 01-29-2014 09:40 PM

too kind my dear I have seen your work and it is pretty nice too!

I have two days to finish a round robin which will happen :) and then I will start on yours on Sunday.. I think with the addition of a few fun fabrics it is going to be quiet sweet :) and it will take some time so I had best get on it quick as a cricket! Sundays and MOndays are my best quilting days.. no clinic all that free time! yahoooo!

Nexxus831 01-29-2014 10:29 PM

EMC1118 I forgot to ask do you mind me posting ideas? Or if I post as I sew? I am ok with posting pictures.

Good Morning/Afternoon Ladies & Gents!!! Just stopping in to check in and see how everyone is doing. Please remember to keep in contact with your partner. If anyone is having an issues contacting their partner, please PM me so that I can step in. Don't let it go months before letting me know.

Everyone please enjoy this process. Try something new. Step out of your comfort zone just a little to explore new things. Have a blast while doing it!!!

Well, Yosamitesa...I will be stepping out of my comfort zone - BIG steps - 'cos the pattern I've selecting has geese flying all over the place!!! Fortunately, my partner gave me a good tip on mastering Flying Geese - can't wait to try it! Now just "patiently" (yea, right!) waiting for fabric order to arrive.

OH!!! I need that tip. I have a block of the month that I'm doing...that all have flying geese and I keep getting the kits and go to start them and freeze...I can't do them. I'm scared!!!!!

TwinRiverFarm 01-30-2014 04:31 PM

I am SO happy my partner and I are communicating, as we have toptally changed direction for her quilt after talking about how she wants to use hers! I was going to rejuvinate a 1930"s DWR for her, but because it would remain a delicate quilt, I warned her. Since she wants to really use her quilt (yahoo!) I am going to keep plotting. And since I have not used 30's prints before, I get to go fabric shopping! The MidAtlantic Quilt Show is the end of Feb. down here, and I may wait to check out the vendors there. The selections will be awesome, although the prices are not. So I will work on the pattern ideas and plot, plot,plot...

CarolynMT 01-30-2014 04:32 PM

:) my long arm club is next weekend (feb 8th) so I am resisting buying fabric prior to then or I will end up with what I buy and more again next weekend :p I really have to watch it lol

I narrowed down what fancies I am going to add to the quilt ;) Now to know whether my partner wants to see it as I build it, or surprise her at the end ;) I can take careful pictures not to show the extras. I am all for surprising at the end....love it! But will do as my partner prefers :) HUGS!!

Cant wait to get started on the quilt, and to pet the pretty fabric!

emc1118 01-30-2014 05:09 PM

I have an idea of the fabrics I'll be using, just need to go shopping for them. Oh boo hoo for me! I will be plotting and planning until I can go to the LQS next week.

oldcatlady 01-30-2014 06:17 PM

pm'd my partner last friday, just waiting to hear back from her :)

Dragonfly Nana 01-30-2014 07:35 PM

TWR - I can't wait until the MAQS comes again. We should see if we can meet up at/during the show. I am in Virginia Beach. Hopefully the 8" of snow we got on Tuesday will be melted by then.

ljdugas31 01-30-2014 07:40 PM

Carolyn I love surprise so that works fine I will do the same for you. We can always change our minds.LOL

TwinRiverFarm 01-31-2014 03:42 AM

Snow will not keep us from the Mid-Atlantic! Definitely we can meet (I am planning on going on Friday). DH is the Chief Engineer at the Embassy Suites Convention Hotel, and believe me, they are gearing up for the quilters! He says that they serve more food at this event than any other during the year. I told him I wanted a room reserved for me to store all my goodies, but they are sold out. So I guess I will just find his truck in the parking lot and stash stuff in it!

applique 01-31-2014 04:41 AM

My partner and I are plotting away! She will be working on two small quilts for me. One about the size of a block and the other a bit larger. Something along the lines of an Amish style maybe? Up to her! How's this for a fun teaser?

Dragonfly Nana 01-31-2014 03:28 PM

stashing stuff in his truck - LOL I will be driving mine. Friday looks good as long as I don't have jury duty (I am up for the whole month of February)

the tip is Yosamitesa, is when you go to sew the corner blocks onto the flying geese ,draw your line diagonally across the small square you sew to the corners but do not sew directly on that line. sew one or two threads to the seam allowance side of the line. this will give you just a little extra fabric to go over the hump of the seam. hope that helps you to manage making flying gese in future.

J_cody 01-31-2014 07:41 PM

Well I had a wkd at a quilt retreat and was excited I got the name of my partner and did some talking with her and I have free reign of the quilt to make for her, Well with a full day of sewing I finished the top and am deciding if it is enough or if I need to do a different one for her. Its like quilters remorse love cutting sewing and putting it all together and then when it is done it is a crash I need to start on another one and go again. Is that crazy or does everyone feel like that.

OK, this is for my partner Annaquilts so no peeking! No batting and no binding but can have sashing or borders. Small one has machine embroidery so I got out of quilting it, second one I had to quilt but picture is not very clear so it doesn'tlook too bad! Hope these photos help explain!

I love surprises :) it adds to the anticipation! Hugs, I am all set on selection of materials and pattern. Now to pick them up! I have a custom piece to load on my long arm that will take me about a month to quilt (I work FT :p and they refuse to pay me to stay at home) Yours will be the next one going on. I plan to try out new techniques both on the quilting and construction. I love pushing the limits. I am almost at the point where I am too excited to focus!

Your the best partner ever!!! Well my fabric came in startedyour quilt today just a little picked out emborder plates ,so excited to get this done. Have a great weekend!!!

roseirish48 02-01-2014 01:21 PM

went shopping today and picked up some of the fabric needed at Mill Ends along with a couple preprinted whole cloth quilt tops, 40 spools of thread and 10 scraps---total purchase came to $13.61. going out of business sale--fabric is 70% off, notions are 60% off. only thing not discounts was the little scraps i picked up--they cost a quarter apiece but are big enough to make centers of some doll quilts which is why i bought them.
Now I can start actual work on the quilt for this swap and see whether i bit off more than i can chew with my proposed plan. I have the picture in my head--now to get it transposed to fabric.

sewmany 02-01-2014 03:41 PM
