Anyone see Barb? I sent a note asking for all the addresses because I might be out of the country for an extended period of time for work. Haven’t heard from her yet

Good Morning!

I, DH and DS got back from our mini vacation last night. DS plans on heading for home tomorrow and will relax today before his long trip back to GA. We had a really nice time and was fun to visit Mt Rushmore and the Badlands. We've lived in this state for over 15 years and finally made the trip!

We made that trip about twelve years ago and it immediately went on my "must visit again" list. Such a pretty area. When we go again I would love to stay in Custer State Park, I loved watching the bison and other wildlife. Mt Rushmore had so much more there than I knew it would -- I really enjoyed it. The Badlands were so unique, unfortunately it got to be 100 degrees so after a few hours I started melting and was an observer rather than being an active visitor! I was surprised they let people go anywhere in there, I remember the terrain being really crumbly when climbing around.

I've been waiting to hear from her too. Barbarakibbler, did you get my PM?

To Irishmom and MacyBaby, FYI--my daughter lives in Rapid City (in the Black Hills). She's been there 4 fours now. Therefore, I do get there a few times a year to visit. Although it is a 8 hour drive from here where I live in MN. And MacyBaby, I will probably be traveling by, very near you. But I agree with you both, it is beautiful there. My daughter got married there last June and I have a coworker who's son in getting married there this August as a Destination Wedding. I will be going the week of July 4th and my son and family (from Colorado Springs) are meeting us there and we are going to do some sightseeing with the two grandchildren who are ages 9 and 5. I am really looking forward to a fun and relaxing family week.

Have fun with the Grandkids -- such a perfect age for that area. When we went my girls had just completed 4th and 2nd grade so about 8 and 10. They both loved the Junior Ranger program held at the National Parks (Badlands and Mt Rushmore). They complete a free (or $1) booklet and then receive a Junior Ranger pin. Usually the ranger giving it turns it into a mini ceremony. Super cute and gets the kids looking at more of the exhibits. Also, many of the National Parks will have programs that are more geared for the kids. When we were at the Badlands we did a free 1 hour program about games that would have been played in the area. Have fun!

Sewbiz...your quilt turned out beautiful! I love the quilting you did on it! I still don't have mine quilted. Maybe when I find it I will move it to the top of the list.

Thanks for sharing.

Happy birthday Irishmom.

I have a new use for the candies. My #2 son was in town for Mother's day and he asked me if I would fix three pairs of his pants. When I saw how they were torn, I told him I would go buy him new ones. He said no, he wanted me to fix these. I darned them and they looked okay, and then he said he wanted patches. I handed him my container of 2.5 inch candies and this is the result. Note, my son is 26. He absolutely loves the pants. His girlfriend would like some patches on her pants.
